.AVIATION...
[Through 00Z Thursday]
Showers and storms along the Florida Big Bend are beginning to
wind down for the day. They're not expected to impact any
terminals, but should they persist, VLD may be briefly impacted
within the next two hours, however, chances are low. Otherwise,
VFR conditions are expected through the TAF period until the next
round of showers and storms tomorrow afternoon.

.PREV DISCUSSION [340 PM EDT]...
.NEAR TERM [Through Wednesday]...
An upper level ridge will elongate across the region today
bringing the upper level winds from the northeast to the east
tomorrow as it spreads eastward. At the surface, the region
remains on the western periphery of the Bermuda high with
generally south to southeast low level flow. Showers and
thunderstorms have been a little more limited this afternoon,
particularly across southeast Alabama and southwest Georgia.
Activity will diminish overnight with additional convection
developing over the Gulf and along the coast in the early morning.
With PW values increasing tomorrow with values back in the 2+
inch range, expect to see an increase in activity for tomorrow
(30-60% range) with the better chances across the Florida
counties, and in particular, the Big Bend. Highs tomorrow will
reach into the lower to mid 90s with lows tonight in the mid 70s.
.SHORT TERM [Wednesday Night Through Thursday Night]...
Mid and Upper-level High pressure will still dominate the region
but, the Gulf sea breeze will bring in chances for showers and
thunderstorms for Thursday. PWAT values seem to decrease,
slightly, but the DCAPE will still be elevated. So the chances for
heavy downpours and gusty winds will still be a concern with
thunderstorms that may develop but should be limited to the
western FL panhandle along and south of I-10. PoPs range from
30-60 percent with the highest chances in the western panhandle.
Temperatures for the short term will be in the low to mid 90s for
the afternoon. Morning temps will be in the mid 70s.
.LONG TERM [Friday Through Tuesday]...
For the long term, the ridging will shift, putting the better
chances for precip in our AL and GA counties for the weekend into
the beginning of next week, although the rain will only be
isolated to scattered. The sea breeze will be the main lifting
mechanism that will drive showers and thunderstorms inland. The
PWAT values will decrease to less than 2 inches in most places,
yet elevated DCAPE values above 700 J/Kg. The overall opportunity
for showers and thunderstorms will decrease with PoPs hovering at
30% or less through the long term. Even with minimal coverage, any
shower or thunderstorm that may develop will have the potential
to produce a heavy downpour and gusty winds.
Temperatures for the long term will be in the mid 90s for the
afternoon with overnight lows in the mid 70s. We can expect
afternoon heat indices to be around 102-106 for the weekend.
.MARINE...
Generally fair boating conditions are expected through the
forecast period as high pressure remains settled across the area.
Daily showers and thunderstorms will be possible and may produce
locally higher winds and seas.
.FIRE WEATHER...
The chance for showers and thunderstorms will increase for
Wednesday and Thursday with scattered storms expected. Twenty foot
winds will be light and RH values are expected to be 50 percent
or higher. Low dispersion values are possible Wednesday across
portions of the Florida Panhandle.
.HYDROLOGY...
No widespread flooding or river flooding is expected through the
period. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms each day
could produce heavy rainfall and cause very localized flooding in
urban and/or poor drainage areas.
