Today through Thursday Night...
Overnight lows are back to near-normal values tonight, hovering
in the 20s across most of the area. With respect to winds,
lingering tight pressure gradient and 45 kt 850 mb winds in far SE
Montana still exists, bringing about gusts 40-50 mph. Winds will
stay on the high side through the morning, then slowly diminish
throughout the afternoon and evening. Expect highs only reaching
the 30s today, but climbing back into the 40s tomorrow with some
downslope warming. For most of Montana, the high winds are behind
us, but Livingston, being the true Windy City of the US, will
start to see gusts 35-45 mph again tonight and through Thursday
and gap flow looks to set up in the Paradise Valley once again.

Friday through Wednesday...
General ridging pattern over the western U.S. and persistent deep
trof over the eastern U.S. puts our area squarely in a benign
weather pattern for the next week to 10 days. The west to
northwest flow pattern over the area produces downslope over the
area, keeping mainly dry conditions in place. West facing
mountain locations will see periods of light snow, but it won't
make it down to the lower elevations. A couple of disturbances
will reinforce cooler air, keeping seasonal temperatures in
place. High temperatures will range from the lower 50s to the
upper 30s through the extended, with the coolest readings looking
to arrive just before Thanksgiving. The good to great news about
this pattern is the lack of strong winds associated with it. So
get out and enjoy some nice Fall weather. At this point do not
see any transportation headaches for the Thanksgiving holiday

MVFR ceilings will persist through 18z east of a Miles City to
Broadus line. Otherwise VFR conditions will prevail. West-
Northwest Winds will continue to gust 30 to 45kts at times over
SE Montana, while lighter gusts in the 20 to 30kt range will be
common over the rest of the forecast area today, weakening quickly
