Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.

This was a multi-round severe weather event. The first round started around 6pm with discrete cells and a few clusters moving from Knox, IN to Hillsdale, MI until around 9pm. The second round featured additional isolated development along a boundary draped across the northern CWA 9P-1A. The third round associated with the primary cold front swept across the CWA 1AM-5AM. This is when the Fremont, IN damage occurred.
After further assessment, there appears to be lack of damage for any conclusive tornado event in Coldwater, MI. Steuben County, IN Emergency Manager performed a virtual survey of the EF-1 tornado near Fremont. Local media also helped in another virtual survey to conclude an EF-1 tornado also occurred just south of Woodland, IN in SE St. Joseph County.

There is increasing confidence for strong to severe thunderstorms
late this afternoon into this evening. The strongest storms will be
capable of damaging winds, large hail and even a tornado. Cooler and
drier air will then settle in Monday through the middle of the week.

The main focus remains on the severe weather threat late this
afternoon into this evening. A MCV and associated cluster of
convection, located across ne MO, will be the main feature of
interest as it tracks into the local area by this time, with
convection growing upscale in the vicinity of a lingering sfc
boundary oriented w-e just north of US 30. An increasingly
moist/unstable boundary layer under strengthening southwest
flow/shear support SPC's higher probs for severe storms. Initial
storm evolution by 21-23z may favor discrete storms (with HP
supercell structures), likely transitioning to broken line segments
or an organized bowing segment. All hazards (hail/wind/tornado)
remain on the table as hodographs enlarge and wind fields
strengthen. Large hail and isolated tornadoes will likely be the
primary threats to start, then trending toward damaging winds with
any linear segments. Overall confidence in this severe storm
threat has increased, especially along/north of US 24...so be
weather alert and stay tuned for updates.
A second line of convection is still expected to develop along a
cold front in eastern IA/WI this evening, with the bulk of CAMs
bringing this east in the 5-9z Monday AM time window. Wind appears
the be the primary threat by this time, conditional on how
convection evolves late this afternoon and evening. Expectations at
this time are for this higher end gusts within the weakening
MCS/QLCS to be more isolated and confined to areas mainly west of
Interstate 69.
A few showers may linger into Monday morning before the cold front
exits to the east, especially along/east of I-69. Gusty northwest
winds and cooler otherwise into the afternoon.

A quick shot of cool air will be the wx story post-frontal Monday
night through Tuesday night with lows mid 40s to low 50s. Skies will
trend mainly clear otherwise as low level ridging translates through
on the backside of an exiting upper trough.
Wednesday into Thursday will feature a warming trend on the backside
of high pressure with any convection to focus off to the northwest
on the nose of a LLJ. Fold over of this moisture channel and
front will then bring the next decent chance for showers and
storms into Thursday night and Friday. Troughing then lingers over
the region into next weekend with additional rain chances and
cooler temps.

observation, but believe VSBY could go back down briefly before

more detail in as better storm/timing resolution becomes
available.

NWS storm survey confirms EF-1 tornado with path length 1 mile and maximum width of 100 yards. Estimated peak wind 100 mph. Duration 2 minutes. Many healthy trees were snapped or uprooted along the damage path and a barn lost its roof.

A survey of damage confirmed an EF-1 tornado with path length of 10 miles, maximum width of 100 yards and estimated peak winds of 100 mph. This tornado tracked east hitting the Country Meadows golf course causing extensive tree damage and destroyed a barn just west of Fremont. The tornado then turned right, tracking through Fremont south of US127 snapping trees and damaging roofs of several structures. The tornado continued east southeast across mainly open fields, snapping trees along the way before heavily damaging another barn and destroying several outbuildings on a farm residence south of Clear Lake. The tornado continued toward the Indiana Ohio stateline before dissipating in an open field.
Widespread reports of downed trees and power lines across the county. Sporadic damage occurred over a 45 minute period.
A large pole barn had the entire metal roof ripped off and blown across the road towards the east. Debris struck and damaged 2 homes that were about 220 feet away.
