High pressure strengthened over central California on November 2. This resulted in clear skies and light winds prevailing over the San Joaquin Valley through the morning of November 3. With inversion conditions and residual low level moisture present, area of dense fog formed in the valley overnight. The coverage of dense fog was significant enough to result in several school districts opening late or delaying bus service. The fog persisted in a few locations until late morning before mixing out and giving way to a mostly sunny afternoon.

Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED National Weather Service Hanford CA 340 PM PDT Tue Nov 2 2021 .Updated Air Quality Issues Section... && .SYNOPSIS...High pressure will build back into the region today and Wednesday. A weak frontal system will move across Northern California on Thursday with little or no impact on the regions weather except some clouds. High pressure will then build back over California this weekend with a potentially stronger system impacting the region Sunday night through Tuesday. && .DISCUSSION...The weather system that brought a few light showers up towards Merced county yesterday has moved east into the Four Corners today. Some residual clouds around today with near normal temperatures. High res models are trying to develop late night and early morning fog, but sfc moisture seems to be limited for widespread dense fog. Fog is possible in Hanford and Visalia and along the highway 198 corridor. With weak ridging aloft, temps will bump up a couple of degrees on Wednesday. The front that was forecast to move through on Thursday is looking very weak based on today's ensemble guidance, with little or no impact on the regions weather. There will be some cooling on Thursday and an increase in clouds, but no precipitation is expected. Once the front pushes through, we are looking at quiet weather conditions through Sunday evening with mostly clear skies and seasonal temperatures. The ensemble guidance is a bit more optimistic with a weather system that is forecast to move into the region Sunday night and continue into Tuesday morning with increased QPF amounts and more energy digging south. Unfortunately, we saw the same type of signals with this last system and it did not materialize. Hopefully this one will. && .AVIATION...Mostly VFR conditions will prevail today throughout Central California through at least the next 18 hours. KMCE and KMER have seen vsbys down to 03SM this morning. MVFR to LIFR conditions will develop after 06z Wednesday in the SJV locations.
