A moist northwest flow developing in the wake of a strong cold front resulted in snow showers developing near the Tennessee/North Carolina border throughout the 7th. Appreciable snowfall accumulations were primarily confined to Avery and Mitchell Counties, where 2 to 4 inches fell.
