On the evening of December 27th, two large bands of snow developed in Colorado and moved into northwest Kansas. The northern most band formed over northeast Colorado and gradually moved south and east along the Kansas-Nebraska-Colorado border. The second band formed over southeast Colorado and slowly moved north into Greeley and Wichita counties before eventually merging with the northern band. Throughout the multi-day event, numerous small bands developed and moved across northwest Kansas producing snow that ranged in depth from a trace to 6 inches, with amounts increasing from south to north across the area. Light freezing drizzle produced a glaze of ice in Logan County. The highest snowfall totals occurred in northwest Sheridan County. Injuries were reported with accidents in Wichita, Logan, and Gove counties. Multiple non-injury accidents also occurred across Thomas, Logan, and Gove counties. Numerous vehicle slide-offs were also reported across Sherman, Thomas, and Cheyenne counties.

Multiple bands of snow produced light snow accumulations across Cheyenne County ranging from 1 to 2 inches. At 6:58 pm CST on December 28th, a semi-truck traveling north-bound on KS-27 near the Kansas-Nebraska state line slid at the base of a hill due to snow-packed roads. The semi blocked both lanes of traffic for four hours with police units from Dundy County, Nebraska and Cheyenne County, Kansas responding to the situation. No injuries were reported. Multiple snow bands moved across Wichita county, producing only a trace of snow. While snow accumulations were low, roads became slick. At 8:07 am CST on December 29th, a passenger vehicle accident was reported on KS-25 near mile marker 118. One person was injured. Key impacts: traffic accident.

Multiple snow bands moved across Thomas County producing snow amounts of 2 to 3.7 inches. The highest snow totals occurred in the northeast corner of the county with 3.7 inches of snow reported near Rexford. Numerous slide-offs were reported during the event, particularly on I-70 and US-83. On December 28th, two accidents were reported with no injuries. At 6 pm CST, a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle collided near mile marker 60 on I-70. At 9:52 pm CST, a passenger vehicle slide off the road and into a ditch on County Road 31 half a mile off US-83. Key impacts: transportation delays, traffic accidents.

Multiple bands of snow produced up to 2 inches of snow across Sherman County. Roads became snow-packed during the event, resulting in numerous slide-offs. The slide-offs most often occurred along US-24, KS-27, and I-70. Sherman County dispatch reported a passenger vehicle accident on the Kanas side of the Colorado-Kansas state line at 7:30 pm MST on December 28th. No injuries were reported. At 5:28 pm CST on December 28th, a rollover accident involving a passenger vehicle occurred near mile marker 99 on I-70. No injuries were reported. At 6:05 pm CST on December 28th, a two semi-truck collision occurred resulting in one injury and a truck stuck in a ditch. The accident occurred near mile marker 99 on I-70. The Logan County Emergency Manager also reported freezing drizzle that accumulated a glaze of ice on surfaces. Several slide-offs occurred on I-70 along with two accidents. At 7:49 pm CST on December 28th, a rollover accident occurred on US-40 between County Roads 360 and 370 with a passenger vehicle containing five passengers. Three injuries were reported. At 11:36 pm CST on December 28th, a 2 passenger vehicle collision occurred on I-70 near mile marker 79. No injuries were reported with the second accident.
