Dry and windy conditions were responsible for several fires, including a 200-acre wildfire on reclaimed strip mine property about three miles south of Equality. Volunteer firefighters from across Gallatin, Saline, and Hardin Counties were assisted by federal fire crews from the Shawnee National Forest.
