...UPDATED AIR QUALITY SECTION...

.SYNOPSIS...
Dry cold front will move through the region tonight, bringing
gusty wind through the wind-prone areas of Central California by
the evening. A couple more disturbances are likely to pass through
northern California, bringing threat of light rain and high
elevation snow in the sierra.

.DISCUSSION...
A long wave troughing occurring over the western half of the
country this week will bring a much needed pattern change. Air
across the San Joaquin Valley remains stagnate, but we should see
some improvement in that realm at least over the next 24 hours as
a cold front will move through the area.

The associated upper level system will take an inside slider track
so not expecting a lot out of that storm system. The initial
impact of this system will be winds as the jet orientation lines
up for gusty winds across the Kern County, especially below the
passes. Winds will diminish overnight as the shortwave trough
nudges south.

As the shortwave drops south it will bring some moisture and
precip potential to the northern zones. The best chances are near
Yosemite as with most inside sliders. Nevertheless, the is enough
moisture for some light showers to ring out a few drops most of
the area north of Kern County.

Again not expecting a whole lot of precipitation out of this
system but it is nice to see a return of it.

Another shortwave trough is progged to dig south early next week,
but should be further east which will limit its impact on the
region a bit. Nevertheless, there is some hint of another round of
moisture moving in.

As that system exits the western CONUS the upper level flow once
again turns to more zonal as the Western Pacific Ridge edges east
over the West Coast. However, it doesn't look to amplify so the
end of the month continues to have potential for more activity.

.AVIATION...
Areas of MVFR to local IFR visibilities in haze and mist in the
San Joaquin Valley until 20Z Thursday. Otherwise, VFR conditions
will prevail for the next 24 hours across the Central CA Interior.

.AIR QUALITY ISSUES...
On Friday December 11 2020...Unhealthy for sensitive groups in
Fresno...Kern...Kings and Madera Counties.

Fireplace/Wood Stove Burning Status is: No Burning Unless Registered
in Kern (Greater Frazier Park Area)...Kings...Merced and Tulare
Counties. No Burning For All in Fresno...Kern and Madera Counties.
