A large ice jam formed along the White River around the SD Highway 47 bridge. Water backed up behind the ice, causing flooding of hundreds of acres of agricultural land. The high water inundated several outbuildings and approached a home along Highway 47. The river crested just below 25 feet on March 19. With continued snowmelt, additional rises were recorded, resulting in a second crest of 20.5 feet and a flow around 37,900 cfs on March 25, which was the third highest flow of record at this location.
