Thereafter, MVFR ceilings may develop and last through mid to late morning Thursday. A very breezy southerly wind will prevail, but may decrease some during the evening. Low level wind shear will be possible after 4-5Z if sustained surface winds remain in the 15kt range. In the very near term, an isoalted shower/storm may move near/across the WWR site between 18-20Z. && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 1107 AM CDT Wed Mar 27 2019/ DISCUSSION... A few high based showers/storms have developed across the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles this morning in advance of a weak mid- level wave. Added some low POPs across far western Oklahoma for early this afternoon, as a few may move into or develop over western Oklahoma. Otherwise, a rather breezy south wind will prevail with gusts around 35 to 40 mph. PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 535 AM CDT Wed Mar 27 2019/ DISCUSSION... The 12Z aviation forecast follows.... AVIATION... Breezy conditions are expected through the period, as a fairly tight surface pressure gradient will be over Oklahoma and north Texas. Relatively little diurnal variation in the wind speed and direction is expected through tonight. CmS PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 411 AM CDT Wed Mar 27 2019/ DISCUSSION... An upper-level ridge over the southern Plains will provide a warm day today and again on Thursday in Oklahoma and north Texas. A few small waves passing along the northern periphery of this ridge may produce a few showers and thunderstorms today and tomorrow, mainly over northern Oklahoma. A more robust wave will arrive on Friday, and a surface low and attendant fronts will provide a focus for convective development. However, there will also be rather warm air above the surface, which will act as a cap on surface-based convection. The weakest capping will be over our Texas counties and adjacent parts of southwest Oklahoma during the afternoon and evening on Friday. Elevated storms will also be a possibility, especially north of the slowly advancing cold front across central Oklahoma. After the front moves well past our forecast area on Saturday, rain chances will drop to near zero for several days, and temperatures will be about 10 to 20 degrees cooler. It appears likely that the northwest half of Oklahoma will see a freeze on Sunday morning. Thunderstorm chances will continue across Oklahoma on Thursday, and Friday. There is a marginal to slight risk of severe thunderstorms over areas roughly southeast of a line from Ponca City to Kingfisher to Lawton to Wichita Falls on Friday afternoon and Friday night.
