.SYNOPSIS...Snow showers will continue across central Nevada
through this afternoon diminishing tonight. The next weather
disturbance will bring more snow and gusty winds to the state
Tuesday and Tuesday night. Light showers could linger into
Wednesday but an extended period of dry conditions is expected to
begin Wednesday night as high pressure builds over the region.

.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Tuesday. A band of snow within a
deformation zone over central Nevada will dissipate slowly through
the evening and overnight hours. Nonetheless, a few more inches
could accumulate in localized areas so the winter weather advisory
will be allowed to continue into the evening hours. Light showers
could linger into Wednesday mainly in the GBNP area. Otherwise,
dry conditions under a light northeast wind regime will occur
Monday. The next frontal system will arrive Tuesday bringing more
snow to Humboldt County beginning late Tuesday morning before
spreading across the state Tuesday afternoon from northwest to
southeast. This will be a quick moving frontal feature so
significant accumulations are not expected especially given that
this will be primarily a daytime event.

.LONG TERM...Tuesday night through next Saturday. The area will be
transitioning back to unsettled weather for the Tuesday night and
Wednesday time frame. A shortwave will be transiting the area and
will bring a quick hitting half-inch to maybe three inches in the
valley locations for the Wednesday morning commute. In addition,
Wednesday morning could bring strong winds to the lee-side of
mountain ranges as well as Tonopah and West Wendover. A wind
advisory may be needed for these locations. It is expected to be a
rather brisk day out with highs in the 30s to maybe 40s degrees.
Stiff northerly flow will help to keep a lid on temperatures with
overnight lows dipping into the single digits to the 20s.

Thursday through Saturday. It is possible we will be getting a
break from the active pattern. Model solutions are showing a
westerly progressive flow with several shortwave ridges
progressing through the flow. This means the potential for drier
weather through the period with highs in the 40s and 50s with lows
in the teens and 20s. Normals for this time of year are in the low
to mid 50s for our different climate sites, which means we could
be looking at normal temperatures, for a change, by Saturday.

.AVIATION...Although some higher clouds have been moving into the
area, confidence is low for FZFG during the overnight as guidance
continues to depict stronger winds, which will inhibit any FZFG
formation. Therefore, expecting VFR conditions through the
overnight. Periods of -SHSN are expected at KELY for the early
evening hours, with clouds scattering out this evening. But before
that, intermittent MVFR/IFR conditions are possible in the
heavier showers. After the clearing, look for VFR conditions at
KELY. Winds will be breezy with some sustained winds of 8-14 knots
with intermittent gusts.

weather sensors.
