Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Memphis TN 254 PM CDT Fri Aug 16 2019 .DISCUSSION... Not much change with the weather from this time yesterday...perhaps a swap of higher clouds today versus the cumulus seen yesterday. Temperatures ranged form the mid 80s to low 90s. Dewpoints in the east were still lingering in the upper 60s...with low and even a few mid 70s being reporting in the west. These numbers were yielding heat indices near 100F...with numbers closer to 90F in the east. For tonight through Sunday...high pressure throughout the column will dominate the region with warming temperatures and increasing humidly. Rain chances will be minimal late tonight and early tomorrow along the MO and KY...as another weak disturbance transverses the Show-Me state...then again Sunday afternoon across the western half of the County Warning Area where dewpoints will be maximized. Temperatures will warm into the low and mid 90s both days and coupled with afternoon dewpoints of 72-75F heat advisories may be needed in the Delta. Since conditions will be borderline tomorrow have passed the last call for issuance with the midnight crew. More confidence is seen for western areas Sunday afternoon. Monday and Tuesday...12z run this morning hasn't change much between the 00z runs from all of the models. A shear axis between two semi-permanent upper highs will set-up generally from the Southern APPALACHIANS to the north central Gulf Coast. Convection chances will remain in the 20-30 percent range over our area and diurnal in nature. Highs will top out in the low and mid 90s with dewpoints in the mid 70s. From this a larger area of the Midsouth may be impacted by the 105F degree heat index. Wednesday through Friday...the GFS and ECMWF are in good agreement that a deeper shortwave trough will sink south across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley...pushing the tail end of a cold front south through our area. Additional cloud cover and rain chances in the 30-50 percent range will lower highs a few degrees with afternoon heat indices dropping to under a 100F. JAB && .AVIATION... 18Z TAF Set VFR conditions will continue over the next 24 to 30 hours. Outflow boundary just went through KMEM switching the winds to the NW.
