...STRONG ONSHORE WINDS WITH HIGH/ROUGH SURF THROUGH THE WEEKEND...

Strong Northeast flow conditions on track as NE FL/SE GA remains
in the tight pressure gradient between High pressure over the
Carolinas and TS Humberto well east of the FL coastline. Breezy
conditions will continue at the coast through the night with NE
winds at 15-20G25-30 mph with higher gusts to 35 mph possible in
shower activity. Further inland expect mainly dry conds with NE
winds in the 5-15 mph range. Mild overnight lows in the lower to
middle 70s inland and upper 70s/near 80 along the coast in the
onshore flow. As TS Humberto makes its closest approach on Sunday
will see the best chances of onshore moving showers with numerous
coverage at the coast to isolated activity further inland. Gusts
of 35-40 mph will be possible mainly in shower activity while
sustained winds along the coast will mainly be NE 15-25g30-35 mph,
likely just below Wind Advisory criteria, but the next full
forecast package overnight will need to make a final call for
possible need for Wind Advisory for the NE FL Coastal Counties.
Breezy NE winds will continue inland in the 10-20g25-30 mph. The
better coverage of showers along the coast on Sunday will hold Max
Temps in the mid 80s, with upper 80s along the I-95 corridor and
near 90 further inland where only isolated showers and storms are
expected.

Winds will subside somewhat this evening with a few showers
around. Winds may remain elevated overnight at coastal sites.
MVFR conditions are expected to become common overnight, and
continue through the day on Sunday. Winds will increase once
again Sunday morning.

Small Craft Advisory flags remain up through the weekend with
strong NE winds of 20-25 knots with occasional gusts to 35 knots
at times, especially in heavy shower activity. Seas building to 6
to 9 feet nearshore and 9 to 12 feet offshore.
Rip Currents: High Risk will continue through the weekend in the
strong onshore flow with surf/breakers into the 5-7 ft range along
the NE FL coast and High Surf Advisory in effect, with 4-6 ft surf
expected along the SE GA coast. Elevated water levels expected
along the St Johns River Basin/Atlc Coast during time of high
tide with departures around 1 ft above predicted tide levels but
this will continue to remain just below minor flood levels.

1 rip current, 1 thunderstorm wind. Local standard time, as filed.
St. Johns County Ocean Rescue reported a make in his mid 20s drowned due to rip currents. Stated that seasoned lifeguards had trouble in the hazardous waters on that day.
A large branch was blown over Terrell Road. The time was based on radar. Gusts across the county ranged between 40-45 mph.
As the offices recorded each death: direct deaths were caused by the weather itself, indirect ones by something it set in motion.
