Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL

.SHORT TERM (Tonight-Monday)...
Weak high pressure and ridging aloft will continue across the area
through Monday. Winds will be light and variable after sunset this
evening and becoming E/NE by morning. The light flow will allow
for an early sea breeze to develop and turn winds back to the W/NW
in the afternoon hours Monday. A few showers and storms will
linger mainly inland and south this evening, but convection should
dissipate before midnight. Will have clearing overnight, then
showers and thunderstorms will build again Monday afternoon with
the sea breeze. Lows tonight in the lower to mid 70s inland to the
mid 70s to near 80 along the coast. Highs Monday will be in the
upper 80s coastal to lower 90s inland.

.LONG TERM (Monday night-Sunday)...
Strong high pressure will remain in place across the Four-Corners
region through the long term period. Downstream from this ridge
weak mid level troughing will develop from the Great Lakes region
south to the northern Gulf coast with a closed low pinching off
over the north-central Gulf. This trough will remain north and
west of the forecast area through the period as high pressure
surface and aloft initially over the Atlantic and extending west-
southwest across south Florida expands and builds north and west
across the northern peninsula and into the northeast Gulf Tuesday
through Sunday with a southeast wind flow regime expected across
the forecast area.

Similar to yesterday ample moisture (PW's in 1.7 to 2+ inch range)
combined with daytime heating will support scattered to numerous
(Pops 40-60 percent range) diurnal sea breeze driven showers and
thunderstorms across the forecast area each day with the storms
first developing over inland locations during the late morning and
afternoon hours with the convection then moving toward the coast
and exiting west into the Gulf waters during the late afternoon
and evening hours. A weak and chaotic steering flow will support
very slow moving storms which will favor locally heavy rainfall in
some locations each day. Frequent lightning strikes and strong
gusty winds will also accompany the storms. Temperatures will run
a few degrees above normal with overnight lows in the lower to mid
70s with daytime highs in the lower 90s.

.AVIATION...
The sea breeze is starting to develop and turn winds to the W/NW.
Isolated to scattered showers and storms will start to develop
over the next hour or so, with the highest chances at KLAL this
afternoon. Winds become light and variable after sunset, with
skies clearing out overnight. Winds return to the E/NE for later
Monday morning, with the sea breeze starting to develop around 16z
again, and a few storms possible with it. VFR conditions prevail,
with MVFR to IFR in storms.

&&

.MARINE...
Light E/NE flow has established as high pressure continues to
build across the waters. High pressure will remain across the
area through the period then, with winds shifting a bit to the
E/SE for early next week. Afternoon sea breezes will turn winds
onshore each day. Isolated to scattered showers and storms will
also be possible through the period. Winds and seas will be
locally higher in the vicinity of these storms.
