Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.
Afternoon thunderstorms across the region along sea breeze driven convection. These storms developed along the east coast and moved towards the interior and west coast. One of these storms produced lightning that struck a man who was working outside in Doral.

.AVIATION...
Convection is forecast for the entire area. While there are
SHRA/TS this morning near APF, this should come to an end by mid
morning. Then, around 17z, convection should begin to over the
mainland. Models indicate that it should progress towards the
interior today, although there some uncertainty with this, and may
be slow moving, remaining along the east coast. A third scenario
is that there is just more widespread coverage. Regardless, all
TAF sites could be impacted by TS through the evening hours.
&&
.UPDATE...
Hi res models are indicating that convection should initiate once
again in the afternoon. There is some discrepancy as to timing,
but sometime between 16 and 18z would be the best guess for now.
Models are also indicating the activity may be more towards the
western Atlantic metro areas, and the interior, rather than the
coast. Slow to little movement is possible again today, leading
to a threat of flooded roadways in the metro areas. the 500mb temp
is coming in at -6.9C, just a tick warmer than yesterday.
Forecast PWATS are well over 2 inches, mainly over the interior.
Slow moving convective cells are probable again today. The NCAPE
in modifying the sounding is over .3, indicating strong vertical
velocity again today. This may lead to strong downbursts, and
possible some localized hail reports this afternoon. The surface
flow is more southerly, so storms may train or backbuild along any
seabreezes that develop. All in all, today looks to be another
active day, but probably a little further towards the interior
than yesterday, although can not rule out thunderstorms along the
coasts either.

DISCUSSION...
TODAY INTO TONIGHT...
A stationary front over Central Florida will slowly wash out
today, as high pressure starts to build westward from the Western
Atlantic waters into the Florida Peninsula. This will allow for
the steering flow to be more from the south/southeast direction
today letting for the east coast sea breeze to push a little bit
more inland compare to the last couple of days. Therefore, the
best coverage of showers and thunderstorms will be more around the
Lake Okeechobee and inland Palm Beach/Broward region this
afternoon. However, there will still be a chance of showers and
thunderstorms across most of South Florida today due to the PWAT
values remaining in the 1.9 to 2.1 inch range.
The showers and thunderstorms should come to an end this evening
over South Florida as the heating of the day is lost. However, the
Atlantic waters will still see some showers and thunderstorms
through the overnight hours as a low level trough will be
approaching from the Bahamas.
The short range models are also showing that the 500 mb temps
will be a little bit warmer today compared to yesterday in the
range of -6 to -7 C. This should limit the strong storms over
South Florida this afternoon. However, there could still be one or
two strong storms this afternoon especially along the sea/lake
breezes/boundary interactions across the aforementioned Lake
Okeechobee region. The primary impacts will be mainly gusty winds
along with frequent lightning strikes and locally heavy rainfall.
The risk of severe weather today is submarginal.
THIS WEEKEND...
The low level trough is forecast by the short range models to move
west northwest across South Florida on Saturday before moving into
the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday. This trough will help to increase
the chance of showers and thunderstorms over South Florida on
Saturday before returning to more of a typical summer type weather
pattern on Sunday. The best coverage will still be over the
interior and west coast metro areas this weekend, as the steering
flow will be out of the east due to high pressure remaining over
the Western Atlantic waters.
EXTENDED FORECAST...
The high will remain over the Western Atlantic waters for the
early to middle part of next week keeping the easterly wind flow
in place over South Florida. This will allow for the late night
and morning shower and thunderstorm activity over the east coast
metro areas shifting to the interior and west coast metro areas in
the afternoon and evening hours.
The latest long range models are now showing another cold front
to move into the Southeastern United States late next week, as the
ridge of high pressure weakens over the Western Atlantic waters.
This will allow for more of a southerly wind flow late next week
focusing the best coverage of showers and thunderstorms over the
Lake Okeechobee region.
MARINE...
The winds today will be south/southeast at less than 10 knots
over the local waters of South Florida before shifting to more of
a easterly direction at 10 knots or less this weekend into early
next week. This will keep the seas at 2 feet or less in both the
Atlantic and Gulf waters of South Florida through early next week.
Therefore, boating conditions look good outside of any showers or
thunderstorms for this weekend into early next week.

areas of South Florida.
No other hazardous weather is expected at this time.
