Isolated late monsoon thunderstorms developed over portions of southern Gila County during the afternoon hours on September 16th. One of the thunderstorms produced some large hail that approached one inch in diameter. The large hail reportedly fell about 8 miles to the southeast of Roosevelt. There were no reports of damage associated with the large hail.

Isolated thunderstorms developed across portions of southern Gila County during the afternoon hours on September 16th. One of the stronger storms generated large hail that affected areas near and to the southeast of Lake Roosevelt. According to a trained weather spotter located 8 miles southeast of the town of Roosevelt, large hail fell with some stones nearly as large as a nickle. One stone was measured with a diameter of 0.88 inches. No damage occurred as a result of the large hail.
