.SHORT TERM...(This evening through Monday)

Main concerns this period will be with winds which are expected to
rise this evening around the mtns of southeast Wyoming. Models
increase the gradient to around 50-55GH this evening then keep it
close to that level through the day Sunday before dropping it off
by evening. Best mixing occurs over the Laramie range and around
Arlington overnight so have upgraded the watch to a warning in
these areas. It appears better mixing in the Laramie valley will
not occur until tomorrow morning so went with the warning there
beginning at that time. Winds look to drop below high wind levels
late in the day. Otherwise some snow will continue over the higher
mtns overnight. QPFs continue to drop off but should still see
another 4-7 inches on the higher peaks so continued the winter wx
advy there. Warmer tomorrow as the cold surface airmass continues
to move out with downsloping flow. A weak impulse slides across
the area late Sunday and should bring some showers to mainly
northern parts of the CWA at that time. Monday looking mainly dry
and a bit cooler with some breeziness under decent mid level nwly
flow.

Quite mild weather should be over the CWA Tuesday through Thursday
as upper ridging sets up over the region. warmest day of the week
looks to be Thursday with max temps in the 60s to mid 70s across
the plains. Attention will then focus on what now look like a
pretty potent upper system that will be moving towards the area
Thursday. Models close off an upper low over the northern high
plains Friday before moving it slowly east and northeast through
Saturday. Track will be critical for pcpn as pretty decent winds
likely will be associated with this system. Models have nudged the
track a bit farther north but will have to watch closely over the
coming days.
