MVFR conditions developing through the VCT/ALI corridor with
scattered low clouds at CRP. Could see tempo MVFR cigs early in
the night at CRP and more likely toward morning along with
continued MVFR at VCT/ALI. Expect continued VFR conditions west
including LRD terminal. VFR conditions return mid/late morning for
all sites and continue through the day. Winds not expected to be
as strong Sunday with just a moderate gust. Will see a repeat
tomorrow night of tonight's general conditions.

.PREVIOUS DISCUSSION... /Issued 904 PM CDT Sat Jun 30 2018/
DISCUSSION...
Winds are a bit more elevated near the coast this evening, but are
still in line with the latest ZFP for the coastal areas and
islands. Did update the gridded data earlier due to the needed
adjustments in temperatures and dew points at the time, and things
are still in line for now. NO update for the evening package at
this time.
See .MARINE discussion.
MARINE...
Winds over the bays/waterways and nearshore waters are close or
above 18 knots with higher gusts, including the northern areas.
Decided to extend the SCA through midnight for all bays/nearshore
waters. Winds are still forecast to come down by midnight, and am
expecting that to remain true. No other changes at this time.
Update has been sent out.

AVIATION...
Models and MOS are somewhat in agreement in bringing some MVFR
conditions (CIGS mainly) to the eastern terminals overnight and
ending AOB 01/15Z. Will generally go with that and use a blend of
persistence and model guidance. This will bring some TEMPO MVFR
conditions to KALI, KCRP, and KVCT about 04Z, 07Z/ and 08Z,
respectively, with MVFR overall before sunrise. Could have some VSBY
restrictions because of the dust which, since ASOS will consider as
BR when dew point depressions are less than or equal to 5F. Will
mention either 6SM or possible 5SM in the eastern terminals too.
Winds will taper off slowly tonight and be lighter than they were
overnight tonight than yesterday as pressure gradient is expected to
relax a bit. Winds increase Sunday around 15Z but not as strong as
today with the typical backing of winds post sea-breeze occurring at
its usual times for early July and VFR conditions after 01/15Z all
terminals.

SHORT TERM (Tonight through Sunday Night)...
Overall the weather pattern is quiet, but hot, hazy and humid. It is
summer after-all, nothing should be shocking. The breezy to windy
conditions will decrease later tonight as the surface but should
still up enough to help keep us mixed. Not expecting fog, maybe some
haze by the early morning hours. Otherwise overnight lows will be
the same as they ever were, muggy.
Tomorrow should be much the same as today though we can tack on a
degree or two across much of the region with ridging directly
overhead. Less wind is expected so that drying feeling of the breeze
won't be as noticeable as afternoon heat index values may near Heat
Advisory criteria across the Southern Coastal Bend west into the
Brush Country. Not entirely confident at this time to put up a
heat headline for tomorrow afternoon.
LONG TERM (Monday through Friday)...
Extended begins with summertime ridging still in control, with
typical warm and humid weather. Main feature of interest in the
extended is an inverted trough that will meander across the
northwest Gulf toward the middle of next week. Models generally
agree on moisture depth with PWATs in excess of 2 inches from
Tuesday night through the end of the week, though noticeable
differences remain in the trough axis location and timing. Scattered
showers appear possible for the second half of next week including
the holiday, though not in the amounts we received last week. The
disturbance diminishes into next weekend, but deep moisture remains
elevated so will only gradually phase out rain chances.
Temperatures will begin the extended period near or just above
normal, then moderate midweek with increasing clouds and rain
chances.
