Southerly winds will increase, veer to the south-southwest, and
become gusty later this morning before weakening/backing to the
south this evening.

DISCUSSION...
The mid-level ridge across the southwest U.S. is forecast to move
and expand eastward into the Southern Plains over the next 24
hours. This will limit the chance of showers/storms through
Friday.
Rising mid-level heights and the coincident eastward expansion of
a low-level thermal ridge will allow for hotter temperatures
today and Thursday. Combined with dew points in the upper 60Fs to
low 70Fs, the most impactful weather will be heat index values.
Dangerous heat index values near or above 105 F are forecast
across northern and eastern Oklahoma for this afternoon.
The Heat Advisory was expanded slightly to where heat index
values at 105 F (or higher) are forecast (east of Hwy 81). Heat
index values may be near 105 F once again Thursday afternoon
across portions of eastern Oklahoma.
By the upcoming weekend, the mid-level ridge may move far enough
east to allow westerly flow to develop aloft. This may allow some
High Plains convection to affect western Oklahoma. In addition, a
shortwave trough across the Central Plains and its attendant
surface boundary will result in a low to moderate chance of
showers/storms across the northwest half of Oklahoma late Saturday
into early Sunday. An effective/convectively-induced boundary may
be located across the area Sunday. This possibility allows for at
least a low chance of showers/storms for Sunday afternoon.
Hot and generally dry weather is expected by the early part of
next week with the mid-level ridge forecast to be centered across
the Central/Southern Plains.
