Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Pocatello ID 113 PM MDT Wed Jul 11 2018 .DISCUSSION...Mostly clear skies are noted across our region though some mid level clouds are noted over the Bear Lake Region this afternoon. Generally unchanged hot and dry conditions are anticipated for the remainder of the week with temperature near the 90 degree mark across the valleys and 80s for the mountains. We will be warmest Friday and Saturday in the mid 90s. A weak boundary extending southward from Canada may be the focus for showers or thunderstorms for parts of ID Saturday afternoon and evening. Looking ahead to next week, though not much of an impact at the moment, there still is not much of an agreement between the two global weather models across our area. One brings in an upper low trough with the potential for increased moisture while the other keeps the area high and dry. NP/JK && .AVIATION...VFR condition with winds less than 15kts through Friday. Keyes && .FIRE WEATHER...Warmer and drier conditions continue through Friday. The only issue MIGHT be a very isolated storm dry developing along the Montana border near Monida Pass and Island Park. We want to stress the word "MIGHT". There will likely be issues with poor overnight humidity recovery, along with increases Haines indices. We do have pockets of Haines 5 across the Snake Plain and central mountains Friday afternoon, with an area of Haines 6 across zones 475 and 476. Confidence is increasing right now for dry thunderstorms on Saturday over the mountains. Daytime humidity will remain quite low even with a front moving through, which means the likelihood of storms over the Snake Plain is very low. The forecast next week is looking quite suspect right now, meaning we are seeing a complete reversal of what was depicted 48 hours or so ago. We will still have westerly flow and above average temperatures. Instead of being completely dry, the models are trying to pick up on limited monsoon moisture now and pull that across the state. We would see AT LEAST some mid level clouds, but definitely not sure if this would equate to dry thunderstorms on a daily basis. Keyes && .PIH WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... None. &&
