Temperatures returning to near normal next week. && .DISCUSSION... Temperatures peak today as upper level ridging builds over the region, with widespread high temperatures in the Valley generally 103-107 this afternoon. At 9 am, it was already 82 degrees in downtown Sacramento, 89 on Vacaville, 87 in Fairfield, 85 in Red Bluff. Forecasts highs are close to record levels at some locations, so it's possible we may see some record tied or broken. The Sacramento forecast high is 105, the record 106 set in 1988 and the Stockton forecast high 106, record 108 in 1964. Northerly winds will be quite breezy today, gusting up to around 30-35. This combined with very low minimum humidity levels (less than 10 percent in spots) will bring critical fire weather conditions. Any fire starts could spread rapidly.
