.SYNOPSIS...A storm system will move into the region tonight and
Monday bringing rain and snow. Dry weather will return Tuesday and
Wednesday before the next storm system brings another round of
rain and snow Wednesday night and Thursday.

.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Wednesday. Short wave moving into
Oregon and northern Calif tonight will spread rain and snow into
northern and central NV. Snow levels will drop to valley floors
behind the cold front. Cold frontal passage a little after midnight
at Winnemucca, around 5-6 am at Elko, and 8-9 am at Ely. Most areas
will see an inch or less of snow with the front, with the
exception of northern Elko county where 1 to 3 inches are likely.
Occasional snow showers behind the front will continue most of
the day with up to an additional inch of snow possible. Will
continue the Winter Weather Advisory for northern Elko county and
the Ruby Mountains where the highest Snow totals are expected.
Winds behind the front will increase and become strong across
northern Nye county where northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with
gusts to 50 mph are expected by Monday afternoon. Therefore a
Wind Advisory has been posted for that area. Snow showers will
taper off and end Monday night across eastern Nevada. Dry weather
will prevail Tuesday and Wednesday, except across far northwest NV
Wednesday afternoon as moisture ahead of the next storm system
could bring a few showers. temps will begin to rebound on Tuesday
with highs climbing into the mid 50s to the mid 60s on Wednesday.

.LONG TERM...Wednesday night through next Sunday. A short wave
ridge will be off to the east, allowing for another storm system
to push across the northwest coast of the United States. Models
are continuing to have some difficulty with this system. For
Thursday, have kept showers in the area through the day. Highs
will be in the upper 40s to mid 60s. Winds will be strong behind
the cold front, especially in northern Nye county, and wind
advisories may be needed. Thursday night to Friday, snow levels
are expected to drop to about 5000-5500 feet with some minor
accumulation expected in the 5500 foot and higher areas. In
addition, northern Elko county might get advisory level snowfall
during the time as northwest flow takes shape and it's possible
the upslope snow machine kicks on. It will be a bit chilly on
Friday due to continued breezy conditions, and areas like eastern
Elko county and northern Nye may need another wind advisory.

Model solutions are out of phase for the weekend, so kept ghost
pops in for the Saturday and Sunday timeframe. Highs will be in
the 50s and 60s with lows in the 20s and 30s.

.AVIATION...Clouds will lower as the next storm system moves in.
Showers are expected to develop around midnight across KWMC, with
later times for KEKO and KELY. Winds will be breezy across the
northern TAF sites today. However, strong winds will be possible
tomorrow across morning and afternoon across KTPH, with
NW15-25G30-40KT possible.

.HYDROLOGY...Storm systems this week will bring more valley rain
and mountain snow. The rainfall could exacerbate flooding issues
through the week. Rivers and creeks will likely continue to run
strong with the additional runoff.

Flood warnings are in effect for the following areas:

Bruneau River: Minor flooding continues with moderate flooding
possible tonight and Monday.

Humboldt River - Carlin: Minor flooding is occurring.

Humboldt River - Palisade: Minor flooding continues.

Humboldt River - Battle Mountain: Moderate flooding continues.

Humboldt River - Comus: Moderate flooding continues.

Marys River: Minor flooding continues.

All other monitored creeks and rivers are below minor flood stage.
River Statements have been issued for the following areas:

Martin Creek near Paradise Valley and Salmon Falls Creek near
Jackpot.

Northern Elko County-Ruby Mountains/East Humboldt Range.
