The Ibex wildfire which began on July 24th continued to burn through the month of August. It grew from 540 acres to 14,500 acres located 11 miles west of Twin Peaks Lookout.
Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.

Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Pocatello ID 149 PM MDT Mon Jul 31 2017 .DISCUSSION...Per satellite imagery, the upper ridge was positioned over NW Nevada early this afternoon effectively blocking any northward push of monsoonal moisture into SRN Idaho. Further to the NW, a weak disturbance was noted lifting into WRN Canada while two sub-tropical features were evident off Baja lifting north around the periphery of the aforementioned ridge. The models have been fairly consistent with the idea that the ridge will hold firm over the region through the week even as the disturbance to the north tops the ridge and scoots east through Canada Tuesday. The main idea here is that weak instability will remain over portions of the CNTRL mountains and Wyoming border region resulting in a slight chance mention of afternoon and evening thunderstorms each day. The ridge is expected to break down over the weekend as sub-tropical disturbances lift north out of Baja around the WRN periphery of the ridge and into the NW states late Friday into Saturday. The influx of moisture and increased instability is expected to lead to widely scattered thunderstorm activity Saturday through Monday with some showers lingering into the overnight hours. Huston && .AVIATION...Light, diurnally varying wind directions are forecast over the next 24 hours with VFR ceilings and visibilities. Thunderstorms are expected to remain clear of terminals. NP/MH && .FIRE WEATHER...Broad high pressure to be settled across Southeast Idaho through the early and middle portion of this week. Critically dry conditions are forecast to persist across Central and South Central Idaho areas through at least Wednesday. Portions of Central Idaho may see improvement by Friday, though dry upper teens to low 20% RH values are forecast. South Central will still be critically dry. Friday currently has the potential to bring in gusty winds for South Central areas and portions of Eastern Idaho. We will be monitoring this day for possible Red Flag Criteria. For Eastern Idaho, expect marginally dry conditions during this period, with 20% to 30% RH values at their minimum. An increase in moisture is possible Thursday, increasing RH values in the east and also allowing for a slight chance of a thunderstorm. Better chances for moisture look to enter all areas over the weekend. This would be from a weak trough from a low to our northeast and will depend on if this trough can swing far enough south and west to bring its moisture to our area.
