.PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 1020 AM EDT Sat May 13 2017/

UPDATE...South-southwesterly flow is already picking up across
the region late this morning, and expect another hot and breezy
day for most locations. As with yesterday, no records are
expected, but temperatures will continue 4-5 degrees above
normal. The southerly flow has brought an increase in low level
moisture, though not in the mid levels as the morning sounding
still shows a very dry atmosphere above 850mb. With dewpoints back
in the upper 60s and low 70s, afternoon temperatures will feel
more like in the mid 90s at times.

Band of convection moving into the the Nature Coast well ahead of
the main cold front this morning looks to remain out of our area
today, but it's forward progression will have to be watched in
addition to any outflow boundaries it produces. With a little
more moisture, we could see a few showers or storms along the east
coast late afternoon/early evening where the seabreeze collision
takes place. The overall threat remains isolated at this time. Any
significant increase in rain chances look to hold of until late
tonight as the main cold front approaches.

PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 331 AM EDT Sat May 13 2017/

DISCUSSION...Low pressure centered over Mississippi with
associated cold front stretching from the low south into the
northern Gulf coast. This low pressure will gradually make its way
into the Florida Panhandle shifting the low level flow more
southerly overnight. This as a result, will act to increase
moisture tonight. This in addition to the moisture will enhance
patchy areas of fog tonight mainly over the northern counties.
During the day, southerly flow will increase from south to
southwest as the gradient strengthens across South FL. A southwest
flow pattern will act to raise temperatures along the east.
Dewpoints in the upper 60s combined with max temperatures near 90
degrees will lead to heat indexes from the low to mid 90s. Front
still remains north of the area keeping most of the convection out
of the area with dry conditions continuing for one more day.
Mother's Day, both the GFS and ECMWF prog the cold front to press
over southern Florida continuing the trend of higher pops over
South Florida for most of the day. Expect showers and a couple of
thunderstorms along the eastern metro areas with fropa Sunday. In
the evening, the front should be exiting the area clearing
conditions over Palm Beach, Broward and most of the northwest
counties. There will still be some lingering moisture over the
southern counties continuing the chance of isolated showers Sunday
night.

Long Term (Monday-Friday): Lingering moisture associated to the front
will remain over the area with light southerly flow over the peninsula.
This will help develop both sea breeze through mid week. Surface high
pressure over the Atlantic will strengthen Wednesday increasing easterly
flow across South Florida. Temperatures will remain around the upper 80s
to low 90s through much of the week.

MARINE...Low pressure approaching the region will increase
southwest to southerly flow through the day with the potential for
SCEC conditions to develop over the Atlantic. The southerly flow
decouples in the evening hours and shift southwest into Sunday
with the approach of the front to South FL. Showers and some
isolated thunderstorms will be possible Sunday over the coastal
waters and begin to diminish into the late evening as the front
exits and moves further south. Southerly winds and seas remain low
through the weekend and early next week. By mid week, ridge
strengthens over the Atlantic waters shifting winds to the east.
Gradient will gradually strengthen with SCEC conditions returning
and increase close to SCA by the end of the week.

FIRE WEATHER...High pressure will continue to bring dry and warm
weather through Saturday. Relative humidity will be on the
increase through the day but values over Glades County could see
brief periods of RH between 35 to 40%. Therefore, Fire Weather
Watch remains. Gusty south- southwesterly flow is expected to
increase on Saturday, leading to very good to excellent
dispersions across the region. There will be a chance of showers
and thunderstorms on Sunday as a front approaches South Florida.
