The episode as NWS SHV wrote it up.
Severe (D2) drought conditions continued much of Cass, Southern Morris, Northeast Upshur, and Western Marion Counties throughout the month of December. However, drought conditions did weaken slightly after the first week of the month in response to widespread rainfall amounts of three quarters of an inch to in excess of an inch. Additional rainfall amounts of one to two inches that fell over Northern and Eastern Cass County during the final week of December did result in improvement to moderate (D1) drought conditions over these areas to end the month. However, rainfall totals were much lighter across Southwest Cass, Southern Morris, Northeast Upshur, and Western Marion Counties, where severe drought continued into 2017.
