The episode as NWS ALY wrote it up.
A fast moving clipper storm moved from the Great Lakes towards the Northeast on Monday, April 4th. With an unseasonably chilly air mass in place, precipitation fell in the form of snow across the entire region. Although the snow was generally light in intensity, there were a few moderate bursts of snow, especially during the late night and morning hours.
Although the snow accumulated best on grassy surfaces, roads become slippery and the morning commute was difficult in many locations. Although some schools cancelled classes, many remained open and there was a large number of auto accidents and traffic on roadways, especially in the Capital Region. Several injuries and one death occurred as a result of these auto accidents.
By the time snow tapered off in the late afternoon or early evening hours, 3 to 6 inches of snow accumulated across much of the area. A few spots in the high terrain of the eastern Catskills saw as much as 8 inches of snow.
