Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 908 PM PDT TUE JUL 5 2016 .SYNOPSIS...Quiet and dry weather expected through the week with afternoon breezes and temperatures running near normal. A system coming into the Pacific Northwest will increase winds over the weekend. && .UPDATE...Minor update to the forecast this evening. Clear skies and gusty winds previal across the area. Winds will subside some overnight, but will become gusty again in the morning. Otherwise, no adverse weather is expected. && .AVIATION...For McCarran...Winds will once again favor a southerly to southwesterly direction tomorrow around 15 knots with gusts up to 25 kts. No other operationally significant weather expected. For the rest of southern Nevada...northwest Arizona...and southeast California...Most terminals expected to remain in persistence with southwest gusts beginning tomorrow morning. No other operationally significant weather expected in the period. && .PREV DISCUSSION... Issued at 212pm .DISCUSSION...through Monday. Pacific Northwest troughing will keep drier and cooler westerly flow over the area for the remainder of the week. This will also favor afternoon west to southwest breezes across the area. As additional energy digs into the northwest US by the weekend, temperatures will cool a little more and winds will increase. Pacific Northwest troughiness continues through the forecast period, with details regarding timing and strength of the weekend trough yet to be worked out fully. && .FIRE WEATHER...Through Monday. Dry westerly flow has replaced monsoonal moisture. Afternoon and evening breezes will kick up around 20 mph across the deserts with afternoon relative humidities falling around or below 10 percent, with recovery only to around the 20 percents overnight.
