Issued at 351 AM CDT Mon Jun 27 2016

Closed low over the Gulf of Alaska with sharpening ridge over the
western CONUS as desert southwest high builds. Northern plains in
northwest flow. Upper trough extending into the Great Lakes from
low over northeast Canada.

.SHORT TERM...(Today and tonight)
Issued at 351 AM CDT Mon Jun 27 2016

Line of thunderstorms from south central Cherry county to Brady.
Putting out about a half inch per hour of rainfall. Had storm total
precipitation around 3 inches. Put out an urban and small stream
flood advisory with Mullen and Seneca in mind and then further south
to cover along the Dismal River. This will run through 8am cdt. The
remainder of the area can handle the moisture. Weak front over
southern South Dakota early this morning will move south through the
Nebraska Sandhills today. This will become the focus for
thunderstorm development through the day and this afternoon with the
front stalled somewhere over southwest Nebraska with surface high
pressure building in and upslope flow will become the focus for
severe weather development. Easterly flow will bring 60 dewpoints
west into the southeast Nebraska panhandle and southwest Nebraska.
Atmosphere becoming increasingly unstable this afternoon and mid
level disturbance moving through set up for severe weather. Have
increased pops through the day with focus on the frontal boundary.
Higher QPFs to the southwest and west. Highs today in the low to mid
80s Precipitation chances continue through the night mainly south.
lows tonight in the 50s to low 60z.

.LONG TERM...(Tuesday through Sunday)

The main forecast challenge from Tuesday on is precipitation.
Periods of thunderstorms are possible with northwest flow aloft
and several wave or trough passages. Severe weather potential
still exists Tuesday.

Overall, made little change in terms of temperatures. Blended
slightly toward MAV/MEX guidance as it's the warmer solution.
Despite continual precipitation chances and cloud cover, any
sunshine combined with H85 temps of 18-20C will allow for sfc temps
to reach the lower/mid 80s.

Precipitation-wise, didn't stray much from previous forecast with
likely pops Tuesday night and continuous schc/chc mention through
the extended. Southeast sfc/low level flow will maintain a constant
moisture supply and provide sufficient instability as daytime T/Td
profiles will stay around 80/60F. Any forcing from leftover
boundaries or a wave/front should be enough to spark some shower and
thunderstorm activity.

For Tuesday's system, the NAM appears to be the most aggressive in
terms of timing with bringing the bulk of the convection through by
06z. The GFS and Euro are a little slower and show the best
convective parameters toward 06z. Maintained likely pops west of Hwy
83 before 06z and east thereafter. As mentioned in previous forecast
discussion, the convection will likely take a multicellular approach
through the Sandhills. Abundant deep layer shear on the scale of 40-
50kts will definitely support supercells. However, with the
convective initiation region in South Dakota, shear vectors nearly
matching the storm motion, and the easing of low level veering in
time, colliding cold pools will favor additional development and
upscale growth into a linear system. MUCAPE near 3000j/kg and LI's
as low as -8 are shown by the NAM, which suggest the potential for
large hail if somewhat discrete cells are maintained within the
larger system. Given the possible cluster/linear convective mode and
the influence of the low level jet, which the NAM and GFS show H85
speeds up to 40kts, damaging winds will be just as large a threat.

Convective parameters also show a severe potential late Wednesday
with the passage of a weak cold front. Deep layer shear is
sufficient with generally 30-40 kts and MUCAPE of at least 1500j/kg.

afternoon across the Nebraska panhandle. The storms are expected
to track southeast across southwest Nebraska this evening. These
may impact the KLBF terminal mid evening. Otherwise look for VFR

AN ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN WILL CONTINUE THIS WEEK ACROSS THE
