Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Pocatello ID 118 PM MDT MON AUG 8 2016 .DISCUSSION...A low pressure system over Washington will move through the Panhandle into western Montana Tuesday and Wednesday. Quite a bit of dry air across central and eastern Idaho so not expecting much in the way of storms. Might see an isolated storm near the Montana border. Expect to see better chances for storms Wednesday into Thursday as a second low pressure system with a more southern track works through the area. May even see some nocturnal storms Wednesday night. This system will exit the region by the weekend with dry weather likely into early next week. Valle && .AVIATION...All airports should remain storm free in the next 24 hours. Mid and high level moisture will stream over eastern Idaho but expect VFR weather. Winds will develop in the afternoon hours with 10-20kts winds with higher gusts, with the strongest winds on Tuesday. Keyes && .FIRE WEATHER...The strong low across western Washington will move into northern Idaho by Tuesday, and into southern Canada by later Wednesday. Moisture continues to move northeast across the area especially the central mountains. There will be enough through tomorrow night for isolated storms across portions of Zones 475/476, with a small area of scattered storms north of Salmon toward the Breaks and Lost Trail Pass. Gusty winds and humidity will be a bigger issue for some areas today and Tuesday. There will be pockets of Red Flag conditions today with a little more widespread issue especially across Zones 411,413 and 476 Tuesday. We will issue a Fire Weather Watch for winds and low humidity in those areas tomorrow. Other districts/zones again will likely see small pockets of critical conditions. As that low moves away, a weaker trailing storm forms to the west and moves across the state Wednesday and Thursday. This will kick off isolated showers and storms as early as Wednesday evening across the southern highlands and Snake Plain and spreading into the eastern highlands on Thursday. Another area of showers and storms should form over the central mountains on Thursday under the center of the system. High pressure will briefly build overhead for the weekend.
