.SYNOPSIS...
Strengthening high pressure aloft will bring a summertime heat
wave inland through the weekend. Coastal clouds will be patchy
during nights and mornings. This will be followed by cooler but
more seasonally warm weather next week.

.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...
Sunny and hot weather continues on schedule. Temperatures at 1 pm
were near or a couple degrees higher than they were at this time
yesterday. A strong high pressure ridge over the Southwest will
expand slightly west and more directly over SoCal. Friday
temperatures exceeding 100 will be common everywhere except near
the coast and in the higher mountains. Now a coastal eddy has been
shown consistently by models to develop Saturday morning and
strengthen Sunday. And the ridge begins to break down slightly
Sunday. So less heat west of the mountains on Saturday and less
heat in all areas Sunday. We'll continue with temps at or slightly
above average next week under fairly high pressure aloft. Models
in recent runs depict a gradual increase in monsoon moisture from
the easterly flow south of the high center. The moisture is high
up in the atmosphere, too high for triggering convection, then
gradually lowers and deepens during the week. So the chance of
showers and thunderstorms appears to increase each day, but still
too uncertain at days 6 and 7 to forecast them. The marine layer
will continue ineffectual for anything more than patchy coastal
clouds through the weekend, but with some increase next week.

212030Z...Coast/Valleys...SCT clouds at or abv 15000 ft MSL through
this evening. Patchy low clouds redeveloping along the San Diego
County coast late tonight, possibly reaching the coastal airports
after 08Z Fri. Although prolonged low cigs will not be very likely.
Even at KSAN and KCRQ. Expect bases around 500-700 ft MSL. Any low
clouds that do develop will likely be gone by 16z Fri.
Mountains/Deserts...SCT clouds above 15000 ft MSL with unrestricted
vis through Friday. FEW cumulus with bases near 10000 ft MSL will
develop over the mountain ridges this afternoon, dissipating around
sunset.

130 PM...No hazardous marine weather is expected through Monday.

.BEACHES...
130 PM...South swells from 170-200 degrees will bring elevated surf
and moderate to strong rip currents through Friday. The highest surf
will be 3-5 feet on S/SW facing beaches today and Friday, mainly in
Orange County.

encouraged to report significant weather conditions.
