The episode as NWS RLX wrote it up.

Lines of showers and thunderstorms streaked through West Virginia ahead of a large board mid level trough in the upper Midwest. This convection was also hundreds of miles ahead of the surface cold front. The first line moved through during the early and mid afternoon, while another line of storms moved through during the early evening. Their movement was toward the northeast at 40 to 45 mph. Gusty winds and downpours were common. The rain was beneficial for many areas. However, a few storms pulsed briefly to stronger levels during the afternoon storms.
