NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MEDFORD OR
306 PM PST TUE NOV 17 2015

.DISCUSSION...OUR BRIEF LIGHT SHOWER PERIOD WILL RETURN TO A MORE
ACTIVE SHOWER PATTERN SHORTLY AS ANOTHER COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH
THE REGION TONIGHT. ALTHOUGH THE BEST JET DYNAMICS ARE NORTH OF
THE AREA THE COOLER AIR ALOFT COMBINES WITH STRONG ONSHORE FLOW TO
BRING ANOTHER ROUND OF MODERATE PRECIP TO THE AREA WITH THIS
SYSTEM. A NORTHWEST ZONAL FLOW PATTERN CONTINUES WITH THE NEXT
WEAK SYSTEM IN LINE MOVING ONTO THE COAST WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...FRIDAY THROUGH MONDAY. AN WEAK UPPER RIDGE
BUILDS OVER THE REGION FRIDAY. FROM THERE MODELS BEGIN TO
DIVERGE...BOTH MODEL TO MODEL AND RUN TO RUN...WITH LOW CONFIDENCE
ON THE TIMING AND STRENGTH OF ANY SYSTEM MOVING THROUGH. THE
ECMWF AND THE GFS BOTH BRING A CUTOFF LOW DOWN THE COAST
SATURDAY...WITH THE ECMWF BRINGING IT DOWN ABOUT 100 MILES
OFFSHORE AND THE GFS BRING IT DOWN MUCH FARTHER OFFSHORE. FROM
SUNDAY ONWARD THE ECMWF DEVELOPS A REX BLOCK WITH THE CENTER OF
THE LOW OVER CENTRAL CA.AND THE GFS WELL OFFSHORE. THE ENSEMBLE
PLOTS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE WITH THE ONLY AGREEMENT BEING A BROAD
AND DEEP UPPER LEVEL TROUGH PATTERN. SVEN

&&

.AVIATION...FOR THE 17/18Z TAF CYCLE...CONFIDENCE IS ABOVE AVERAGE
ON MAINLY MVFR CONDITIONS WITH LOCAL IFR PREVAILING THROUGH 00Z THIS
AFTERNOON WITH MOIST WESTERLY FLOW. LIGHT RAIN POSSIBLE AT TIMES FOR
CASCADES AND WEST WITH SNOW LEVELS WELL ABOVE TERMINALS. APPROACHING
COLD FRONT TONIGHT WILL PRODUCE LOWERING CIGS AND VISIBILITY
CASCADES AND WEST WITH PRECIP BECOMING WIDESPREAD. CONDITIONS
IMPROVE TO VFR FROM WED MORNING INTO EARLY AFTERNOON FROM NW TO SE.
MS

&&

.MARINE...UPDATED 200 PM PST TUESDAY 16 NOV 2015...MODERATE STEEP
WESTERLY SWELL WILL PERSIST THROUGH AT LEAST WEDNESDAY
EVENING...POSSIBLY INTO THURSDAY. A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE
COASTAL WATERS TODAY AND WILL BRING SOUTHWEST WINDS UP TO SMALL
CRAFT ADVISORY LEVELS IN AREAS NORTH OF CAPE BLANCO. WINDS WILL
DIMINISH TONIGHT BUT SEAS WILL REMAIN STEEP THROUGH AT LEAST
THURSDAY. ANOTHER FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE WATERS WEDNESDAY NIGHT
INTO THURSDAY MORNING LIKELY BRINGING SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY WINDS TO
PARTS OF THE COASTAL WATERS. OFFSHORE FLOW WILL DEVELOP FRIDAY AND
PERSIST INTO SATURDAY. MND/MS
