A ridge of high pressure in the middle and upper atmosphere centered over northern Texas promoted strong subsidence across eastern Oklahoma on July 14th. Sunny skies, unseasonably hot temperatures in the upper 90s, and unseasonably humid conditions resulted in heat index values of 110 to 115 degrees.
