A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS WILL REACH THE NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS
AROUND DAYBREAK AND WILL PUSH SOUTHEAST ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS THROUGH
MID MORNING. FREQUENT CLOUD-TO-GROUND LIGHTNING...TORRENTIAL
DOWNPOURS...AND GUSTY WINDS WILL BE THE MAIN THREATS. SOME FLOODING
OF POOR DRAINAGE AREAS WILL BE POSSIBLE. AFTER THE FIRST WAVE OF
STORMS MOVES THROUGH...THE ATMOSPHERE IS EXPECTED TO DESTABILIZE
AGAIN IN THE AFTERNOON. ANOTHER ROUND OF STRONG TO SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS IS POSSIBLE LATER IN THE AFTERNOON AND INTO THE
EVENING. SOME OF THE STORMS MAY CONTAIN DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AND
LARGE HAIL. A THIRD ROUND OF THUNDERSTORMS IS ALSO POSSIBLE LATE

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR THE FOOTHILLS AND WESTERN PIEDMONT
NORTH CAROLINA...INCLUDING THE CHARLOTTE METRO AREA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

A BROKEN BAND OF THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS OF
NORTH CAROLINA EARLY THIS MORNING AND MAY MOVE OUT ACROSS THE
FOOTHILLS AND WESTERN PIEDMONT OF NORTH CAROLINA DURING THE MIDDLE
PART OF THE MORNING. THE TIMING OF THIS BAND OF STORMS DOES NOT
FAVOR MUCH IN THE WAY OF STRENGTHENING EAST OF THE BLUE RIDGE...AS
THE ATMOSPHERE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO WARM UP AND DESTABILIZE BEFORE
IT MOVES THROUGH. AT THIS POINT...THE MAIN THREATS APPEAR TO BE
CLOUD-TO-GROUND LIGHTNING AND HEAVY RAIN. AFTER THE MORNING
ACTIVITY MOVES OFF TO THE EAST...IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL HOURS FOR THE
ATMOSPHERE TO DESTABILIZE AGAIN OWING TO LINGERING CLOUD COVER. IF
THE CLOUDS THIN EARLY ENOUGH IN THE DAY...BY MID AFTERNOON...WE
MAY DESTABILIZE ENOUGH TO SUPPORT REDEVELOPMENT OF STRONG TO
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE AREA EAST OF THE MOUNTAINS THROUGH
THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS. DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AND
LARGE HAIL WOULD BE THE MAIN THREATS. A THIRD ROUND OF STORMS WILL
BE POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT AND EARLY WEDNESDAY AS A COLD FRONT
PUSHES ACROSS THE REGION.

SOUTH CAROLINA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

A FEW THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP AND MOVE ACROSS NORTHEAST GEORGIA
AND THE UPSTATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA THIS MORNING...WITH GUSTY
WINDS...BRIEF HEAVY DOWNPOURS...AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING. THE
ATMOSPHERE IS EXPECTED TO BECOME MODERATELY UNSTABLE BY THIS
AFTERNOON ACROSS THE AREA ALONG AND WEST OF INTERSTATE 26...WHICH
WILL SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS
THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND INTO THE EVENING. DAMAGING WIND GUSTS
AND LARGE HAIL WILL BE POSSIBLE. IN ADDITION...THERE WILL BE
ENOUGH WIND SHEAR IN THE LOWER PART OF THE ATMOSPHERE SUCH THAT A
BRIEF TORNADO CANNOT BE RULED OUT. ANOTHER ROUND OF THUNDERSTORMS
