Moist and unsettled pattern over the region brought widespread rain and snow shower based precipitation to the region. During the period, Montana was under the influence of a large scale closed low over the great plains. This setup kept northerly flow near the surface as gulf moisture wrapped its way around the system and into the region from the southeast.
