A low pressure system moving northeastward across the forecast area brought a combination of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain during the day on the 14th. Strong isentropic lift brought the highest snow amounts to areas along and north of I-80, and in the higher elevations, where cold air remained entrenched the longest.
Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.

Strong isentropic lift brought the highest snow amounts to areas along and north of I-80, and in the higher elevations, where cold air remained entrenched the longest. A dry slot brought an end to the heaviest snow in the afternoon Saturday. Snow totals generally were under 6 inches in 12 hours except in the ridges of West Virginia and Garrett county Maryland.
