NORTH CAROLINA...WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA AND UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA.
.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.
SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT THE
PIEDMONT OF THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA THIS
EVENING. THE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SLOW MOVING AND MAY DROP
LOCALLY VERY HEAVY RAINFALL...POSSIBLY LEADING TO A FEW AREAS OF
FLASH FLOODING. FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING WILL ALSO
ACCOMPANY THE STRONGER STORMS.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY.
LOW PRESSURE SLOWLY ORGANIZING OVER THE EASTERN GULF OF MEXICO IS
EXPECTED TO MOVE NORTHEAST AND EVENTUALLY MOVE UP THE SOUTHEAST
COAST THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY. THERE IS STILL SOME
UNCERTAINTY AS TO THE TRACK...INTENSITY AND TIMING OF THE LOW AS
IT IS STILL IN ITS ORGANIZING STAGES. HOWEVER...IF THE LOW TRACKS
FAR ENOUGH INLAND...A PERIOD OF WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAIN WITH AN
ENHANCED FLOODING THREAT IS POSSIBLE OVER THE CAROLINA PIEDMONT
THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY. HOWEVER...EVEN IF THERE IS NO DIRECT
IMPACT FROM THIS SYSTEM...ABUNDANT MOISTURE STREAMING INTO THE
AREA AHEAD OF THE LOW WILL RESULT IN NUMEROUS TO WIDESPREAD

COVERAGE OVER THE MOUNTAINS AND FOOTHILLS OF THE WESTERN CAROLINAS
AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA DURING THE EVENING HOURS. IN PARTICULAR...AN
AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN MAY MOVE INTO THE
SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS BETWEEN 6 AND 9 PM. THE
THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SLOW MOVING AND MAY DROP LOCALLY VERY HEAVY

Very heavy rain fell across the Golden Strip of Greenville County, including the communities of Mauldin, Simpsonville and the Five Forks area. Rainfall amounts of 3 to 4 inches were common in this area. Severe urban flooding developed with water entering some businesses and private residences. Several roads were flooded and closed, including Holland Rd which was flooded by Bridge Fork Creek.
