An extensive north to south oriented pre-frontal squall line moved east into Central North Carolina during the overnight/early morning hours. Despite the loss of daytime heating, the well organized line was able to maintain itself, as an approaching shortwave provided enough upper level forcing within a marginally unstable air mass (dewpoints in the low to mid 60s).

An extensive north to south oriented pre-frontal squall line moved east into Central North Carolina during the overnight/early morning hours. Despite the loss of daytime heating, the well organized line was able to maintain itself, as an approaching shortwave provided enough upper level forcing within a marginally unstable air mass (dewpoints in the low to mid 60s). Fairly widespread wind damage occurred in Forsyth and Randolph counties before the squall line weakened some as it moved further east into Central North Carolina.

Several trees were blown down in and around the Stanleyville area.
Numerous trees and power lines were blown down along a swath from near Seagrove to near Coleridge. In addition, a tree fell onto a house in Seagrove causing heavy damage, although an exact monetary value is unknown.
A large tree was blown down on NC 705 at the intersection of Jasper Road and Ashwood Road. In addition, two power poles were broken in the Robbins area.
