What happened

The episode as NWS TFX wrote it up.

Strong and moist westerly flow brought rain and snow to the mountains of North-Central and Southwest Montana. A Winter Storm Warning was issued for the mountains of Central and Southwest Montana (above 5000 feet across North-Central/Central Montana - above 6000 feet in Southwest Montana). Forecast models indicated likely snow totals through the period of 8 to 18 inches, with up to 2 feet at the higher peaks. Gusty westerly winds shifted northerly with the frontal passage on Monday, keeping blowing snow and reduced visibility across the Rocky Mountains.
