AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SPOKANE WA
510 PM PDT Thu Jun 7 2012

.SYNOPSIS...
Another low pressure system will impact the Inland Northwest
through Saturday. This will lead to unsettled, showery and
occasionally wet periods through Saturday night. Sunday will be a
marginally drier day in Washington...with wet conditions
persisting in the Idaho Panhandle. Temperatures will be well below
normal. Temperatures will temporarily warm to seasonal levels for
the beginning of the work week...but unsettled weather will likely
return by the middle of next week.

.DISCUSSION...
Update: minor forecast update sent to expand the thunderstorm
threat toward the Palouse south into the L-C valley and Blues.
Some convection has been firing across north-central Oregon this
afternoon in the low-grade instability behind the passing occluded
front. These are tracking east-northeast and, in addition to
developing across the CWA, they will have opportunity to advect
into our CWA. However the depth of the instability is not too
impressive, so at this time I am not expecting storms to be too
organized or at all widespread. The chances of any one location
receiving thunder is slight. /J. Cote'

.AVIATION...
00Z TAFS: A front will continue to push east and an upper trough
with embedded shortwave disturbances will continue to pass through
tonight and Friday. Steadier rain over the eastern third of
Washington and northern Idaho to be replaced with more showery
weather through the evening and early overnight. Some thunderstorms
will be possible, with the primary threat shifting to the
northeast Washington Mountains and Idaho Panhandle overnight.
However the probabilities that a storm will cross a TAF sites is
not high. Otherwise look for VFR and occasional MVFR cigs in
heavier rains. Drier weather comes for early Friday, before the
next threat of showers develops in the afternoon. /J. Cote'
