What happened

The episode as NWS PHI wrote it up.

Snow fell through the Friday morning commute on the 7th across Eastern Pennsylvania. Accumulations averaged one to three inches. Untreated roadways and walkways were hazardous. Numerous accidents were reported in Chester County. Snow began falling around Midnight EST on the 7th in the Poconos and prior to sunrise and the start of the morning commute on the 7th throughout the rest of Eastern Pennsylvania. The snow ended between 9 a.m. EST and 11 a.m. EST on the 7th across most of Eastern Pennsylvania.

Representative snowfall included 3.4 inches in Martins Creek (Northampton County), 3.2 inches in Nazareth (Northampton County), 3.1 inches in Schnecksville (Lehigh County) and Tobyhanna (Monroe County), 3.0 inches in Chesterbrook (Chester County) and Nazareth (Northampton County), 2.8 inches in Jim Thorpe (Carbon County), 2.6 inches in Bethlehem (Northampton County), 2.5 inches in Media (Delaware County) and East Nantmeal (Chester County), 2.4 inches in Spring Mount (Montgomery County), 2.3 inches in Kutztown (Berks County), 2.2 inches in Trappe (Montgomery County), 2.0 inches in Perkasie (Bucks County), Drexel Hill (Delaware County), Emmaus (Lehigh County) and Exton (Chester County), 1.7 inches at the Lehigh Valley International Airport, 1.5 inches in Fricks (Bucks County), Reading (Berks County), Roxborough (Philadelphia) and Wynnewood (Montgomery County) and 1.3 inches at the Philadelphia International Airport. The snow was caused by a cold front that moved through Delaware during the morning of the 7th. The snow was also assisted by a vigorous upper air disturbance.
