What happened

The episode as NWS PAH wrote it up.

Light freezing rain and freezing drizzle caused slick and hazardous road conditions across parts of southeast Missouri, mainly along and northwest of a line from Cape Girardeau to Poplar Bluff. At least five minor accidents were reported in Ripley County within an hour. A total of about 20 to 30 calls for vehicle crashes and slide-offs were handled by law enforcement officials in Ripley County. The light freezing precipitation was caused by a southerly wind flow of milder air overrunning cold air near the surface.
