What happened

The episode as NWS LUB wrote it up.

A strong autumn storm system ejected eastward over the southern Rockies and the Plains late on the 11th and 12th. Thunderstorms initially developed over parts of the Texas Panhandle and the northwestern South Plains of west Texas during the evening hours of the 11th. Precipitation then became widespread over west Texas during the overnight hours. As the center of the upper air storm system moved eastward over west Texas during the pre-dawn hours of the 12th, thermal profiles became cold enough to support snow. Light accumulations of one to three inches were observed over parts of Castro and Parmer Counties. No significant public impacts were reported.

Reported snow accumulations: 3 inches at Rhea (Parmer County), 3 inches at Friona (Parmer County), 2 inches at Dimmitt (Castro County).
