Atlantic high pressure and an inland trough were set in place during the overnight hours. A shortwave and persistent instability continued to support showers and thunderstorms overnight in a corridor north of Interstate 16 and west of Interstate 26. Zero to six kilometer bulk shear between 20 to 30 knots supported multicell thunderstorms. Downdraft CAPE between 500 to 1000 joules per kilogram also supported brief wind gusts from thunderstorms.
