A large low pressure system, moving slowly across the Northern Plains, brought a prolonged period of snow, rain, and freezing rain to much of west and central North Dakota from Tuesday, March 9th through Thursday, March 11th. A large low pressure system, moving slowly across the Northern Plains, brought a prolonged period of snow, rain, and freezing rain to much of west and central North Dakota from Tuesday, March 9th through Thursday, March 11th. The heaviest precipitation fell across southwest and south central portions of the state. Although warning criteria snowfall amounts were not reached, much of southwest and portions of south central North Dakota received several inches of wet snow over a 36 to 48 hour period.
