Showers and Thunderstorms developed across portions of the North Carolina Mountains and Foothills and move east and into the North Carolina Piedmont and Sandhills in the late afternoon into the evening on May 15th. Some of these storms became strong to severe as an upper level disturbance tracked across the Western Piedmont and Western Sandhills producing damaging winds and large hail.
