THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTHEAST GEORGIA...PIEDMONT
NORTH CAROLINA...WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA AND UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP THIS
AFTERNOON ACROSS THE REGION AND PERSIST INTO THE EVENING HOURS.
THE MAIN THREAT FROM THESE STORMS WILL BE FROM FREQUENT CLOUD TO
GROUND LIGHTNING AND VERY HEAVY RAINFALL. HOWEVER...A FEW OF THE
STORMS WILL LIKELY BECOME SEVERE...WITH THE MAIN SEVERE WEATHER
THREAT BEING LOCALLY DAMAGING WIND GUSTS. IN ADDITION...STORMS
THIS AFTERNOON WILL MOVE VERY SLOWLY...CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR
LOCALLY EXCESSIVE RAINFALL AND FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING WILL
BE MOST LIKELY IN URBAN AREAS...AND IN THE MOUNTAINS...WHERE
STORMS MAY BECOME ANCHORED ALONG TERRAIN FEATURES.

IN ADDITION TO THE FLOODING AND SEVERE WEATHER THREAT...HIGH
TEMPERATURES WILL ONCE AGAIN REACH THE MID AND UPPER 90S ACROSS
MUCH OF THE PIEDMONT AND FOOTHILLS. THIS WILL COMBINE WITH A HUMID
AIR MASS TO PRODUCE HEAT INDEX VALUES IN THE 100 TO 104 RANGE
ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON.
