Northeast Louisiana was quite dry in recent months and has run 2-3 inches below normal on precipitation since March. Most areas have only received around 2 inches of rain each month, although some areas have struggled to get as much as 1 inch. Due to the lack of substantial rainfall, extreme drought conditions began in late June across the parishes. The drought conditions continued into the month of July.
