Snowmelt flooding and ice jamming caused the Big Sioux River near Castlewood to crest above flood stage a couple of times from March 19th to March 25th. The river rose only slightly above the flood stage of 11 feet to 11.4 feet. Some agricultural land was flooded as a result.
