A strong low pressure system pushed across south central Canada on Tuesday (July 14th), and its trough of low pressure developed strong thunderstorms over the southern Red River Valley and West Central Minnesota. Heavy rains from a large cluster of storms caused some flooding across the southern Red River Valley and parts of West Central Minnesota, including Wadena County.

Roughly three inches of rain fell in about two hours, causing some drainage problems around the city of Hankinson. Main Street was closed, as the storm sewers could not keep up with the runoff. Several businesses in low spots had minor water damage.
